Create a reflection journal on your Blog and answer the following questions:
1. Why did you select the inspiration pieces?
I choose these pieces because they were extremely intriguing and caught my eye. I thought that the artist's ability to manipulate the mediums that they used was extremely well done and intricate. It was honestly the pieces that were most impressive and fascinated that inspired me to use for my self-portrait.
2. Why did you select the media to create your self-portrait?
I am most well versed in pencil that is why I choose pencil, it is a medium that you are able to create well rendered drawings. I am currently trying to hone in on certain mediums that I can eventually master so any way that I can practice I have been focusing on pencil.
3. What challenges did you face in creating your self-portrait and how did you overcome them?
Mapping out is always the most difficult part of creating a portrait. You must have the correct dimensions down that are accurate so that you can build off of them and create a well rendered portrait.
4. How does this piece represent you?
This piece represents me physically as well as added elements that resemble the person that I am. The scarf around my neck is an added element that I wear a lot, as well as my hair down are two characteristics that are very common when discussing myself.
5. What elements and principles of art did you apply in this work?
Texture as well as value are the main components that have to do with elements and design. There is a little bit of movement that is demonstrated in the pencil work of the portrait. There are very precise details in the portrait to give the realistic areas as well as abstract elements to add where needed.
6. Did you enjoy working on this project?
Yes I did enjoy this project a lot. It did take some time to complete but the overall project and inspiration was a good start to the project to create a good piece of artwork.
7. What do you think of your final artwork?

My final work is an example of piece of work that was worked on and tried to complete the project as well as I could. I enjoyed doing this and tried to add elements that made the portrait interesting, as seen in the examples from the gallery.
