1. What were you expectations for this course and where they met?
The expectations coming into this course was to understand and read other peoples intrepations of diverse art forms and movements. I also wanted to have a larger foundation or basis of knowledge about all types of art around the globe. My expectations were met, I feel that I have a good understanding of a lot of influential artists around the world from the stone age onward. I think that this course was a good refresher of information that I have not brushed upon in awhile.
2. Now that you've been through this course, What is art? How would you define it now compared to your initial posting?
I initially said that art is not only in every aspect of life; it is also a reflection of the current themes and issues of society. I still believe this statement, it is a mirrored image of not only a certain place, but through the hands of individual artists with distinctive styles. Art can been seen but must be understood to appreciate.
3. Who was your favorite artist in your original posting and who is your favorite visual artist now? If there is a difference, why do you think so? If you have the same favorite artist, why do you think so?
Georgia O’Keeffe was my initial favorite artist, this was my answer in the beginning of the semester because if the connection I have made to her work since I was in High School. I have been learning and dedicating time to art for some time now and O’Keeffe will always have a special place my heart. There are, of course, many artists I admire and look up to there is just something special that has and will always draw me to Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings.
4. Now that you've completed this course, how do you feel about taking an online course? Is your answer the same as it was in your first posting? How is it the same or different?
I have never taken a fully online course before, after this class I am very confident in what the expectations are and how they function. In the beginning I was very unsure about the whole process, but through trial and error I have a much better understanding of how they work. If there is an opportunity or that I may have to take one in the future; I will definitely take it.
